Covid-19 – Poem by Lilia Sedano Dardon

Covid-19, declared on March 11, of twenty-twenty!

Trump closed the country to China because people who died there were many.

They claimed it started with a bat at a market from animals that were friendly.

Then Italy, France and Spain were affected plenty.

Bodies dying so rapidly;

But there’s no more room at the cemetery.

New York is now hit with this frenzy.

Doctors, nurses, frontline workers are overworked already!

America is shut down, its citizens are locked down, it’s crazy!

Can’t find toilet paper, paper towels, wipes of any!

People are losing jobs; stock market is down and PPE is the envy.

Cases are still going up; more are dying that we can’t even bury.

Everyone is told to wear a mask to stop the spread of this invisible enemy.

Now BLM movement starts because of another horrific frenzy.

Protests, lootings, shootings and now fires too from being so edgy.

Finally, numbers are falling but too many are breathing heavy.

Newsom will close California if we don’t do what he says without a penny.

Schools closed, businesses are shut down, working from home if you’re lucky.

Not allowed to gather or you’ll face jail or a fine, how contrary.

Cases and deaths are rising again, Trump lost but we are still praying.

Its Christmastime now, Thanksgiving has passed, we need a miracle already!

Jesus, our savior, we’re sorry, please tell God we are ready to be friendly.
